The Center for Applied Mathematics regularly supports Mathematics Department faculty and graduate student travel to conferences. A call for applications is sent out each late Summer and late Fall. If budgets allow applications outside these deadlines will be considered. All applications must be made at least 2 weeks before the conference. Each award will be for a maximum of $700 to be used for travel, lodging and registration fees.
The following policies apply.
- Faculty and graduate students or student can receive a maximum of $700 in support in any 36 month period.
- Priority will be given to applicants who are confirmed speakers at their conference.
- To be eligible for support a graduate student needs to have a thesis advisor, a PhD committee, and have begun work on a problem related to the conference they wish to attend.
- To balance the awards, preference will be given to fields which have not received much support in recent years.
To apply please email the information below to peter.bubenik@ufl.edu
YOUR NAME: YOUR EMAIL: CONFERENCE NAME: CONFERENCE LOCATION: CONFERENCE DATES: ARE YOU GIVING A TALK? HAVE YOU EVER RECEIVED CAM TRAVEL SUPPORT? IF YES, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME? (IF IT IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY)
For graduate students, please also complete the following.
YOUR ADVISOR'S NAME: YOUR EXPECTED GRADUATION DATE: YOUR WEB PAGE: IF YOU ARE NOT GIVING A TALK THEN PLEASE WRITE ONE OR TWO PARAGRAPHS ON HOW YOU WOULD BENEFIT FROM ATTENDING THIS CONFERENCE.
Funding will only be approved if your math department website would favorably incline a conference organizer to invite you to their conference. For example, it should have your photo and a summary of your research and why it is of interest. If you intend to seek employment during JMM or another meeting, then it should also contain your cv and teaching statement.
